The world’s first blue Phalaenopsis orchid is called the “Blue Mystique”. It is a Phalaenopsis orchid with bright electric blue colored blooms developed by modern and unique technology. The Blue Mystique blue orchid is not a Phal hybrid nor is the color painted on the bloom. The fascinating blue color of this plant is the result of a unique process that permeates white Phalaenopsis with a special substance that produces the blue color. The process has been perfected after several years of testing and research with the use of natural substances and taking into consideration environmental issues created by the Silver Vase Orchids and Bromeliads.
The Blue Mystique blue orchid’s initial blooms are vivid blue in color. Succeeding flowering may produce gorgeous flowers in a lighter shade of blue until it eventually brings out the original white Phalaenopsis flowers because of Phals’ robust filtering system. But even after the blue color of the flowers is gone, your blue orchid will continue to bloom and give you lovely Phalaenopsis flowers as long as it is given the proper care that it requires.
Caring for your blue orchid is no different from the care that your other Phal plants require. Phalaenopsis or the moth orchid needs indirect, moderate sunlight and warm temperature. The blue orchid, just like any other Phal, loves humidity and moisture but is averse to over-watering. It is best planted in a quick draining and drying potting medium such as a fir bark or even mounted on wooden plaques. Make sure that there is no standing water on the roots and leaves before watering it again. Ideally, the potting medium should not be allowed to dry out but kept evenly moist. Your blue orchid will thrive with a 20-20-20 fertilizer fed to it every other watering. Misting it with water mixed with the fertilizer will maintain the luster of the leaves. Photo by dreamexplorer
